Advertisements about Pesticides Must Bear the Truth
It is a criminal offence to package or to label or advertise any pesticide in a misleading or deceptive manner. All information regarding the character, quantity, composition, merit or safety of the pesticide must be the truth. Deliberately misleading consumers is a criminal offence and persons who do so can be fined or imprisoned.
Pest Control Operators Must be Licensed
It is a criminal offence to perform the services of a pest control operator unless a license to do so is obtained from the Pesticides Control Authority. Consumers must bear this fact in mind when employing persons to carry out pesticide control jobs.
Importation of Prohibited Pesticides Not Allowed
Certain pesticides are prohibited for use in Jamaica. These should not be imported into the island as this is a criminal offence, breach of which will result in a fine or imprisonment. Consumers must for their own protection report any suspected breach to the Pesticide Control Authority or the Consumer Affairs Commission.
Registration Required to Manufacture, Import, Advertise or Sell Pesticides
It is a criminal offence to manufacture, import, advertise or sell pesticides unless the pesticide is registered with the Pesticides Control Authority. Consumers must for their own protection report any suspected breach to the Authority or the Consumer Affairs Commission.
License Required for Manufacture and Import of Pesticides
It is a criminal offence to manufacture or import a pesticide unless the manufacturer or importer obtains a license from the Pesticides Control Authority to do so. Consumers, for their own protection must be on the alert about these things and report suspected breaches to the Authority or the Consumer Affairs Commission.
