Jamaica is among 13 member states who will observe CARICOM Energy Week 2011 as part of a regional initiative aimed at showcasing the energy sector and to educate the public about renewable energy options.
 
The CARICOM Energy Week launched by Minister of Energy and Mining, Honourable Clive Mullings on November 7 under the theme is “Energy Security for a Sustainable Future” will close with a two-day Energy Awareness Expo on November 10 and 11.
 
The Expo will feature exhibits, lectures, seminars, workshops about the energy industry in areas of research, conservation, efficiency and development. The curtains will come down on an entertainment package on the rounds of the UWI on Friday, November 11 in the evening.
 
The Expo anticipates participation from primary and secondary schools, UWI Students, members of academia, the private sector and the general public.
 

The CARICOM Energy Week is coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
